Push Hands
- Practice “push out” against resisting opponent to tune perfect structure/alignment when advancing
- Body waving to open joints – practice daily
- Train 4 types of push hands – 1) Torso with hands between neck and waist, 2) Double wrist hold, 3) Alternate wrist hold, 4) Chin Na – practice against different chin na to push out or “lock” different joints in opponent – wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck, waist/hip, ankles, feet.
Sifu Clear Session – 10/21/2015
- When performing jurus and forms maintain execution throughout full range of motions – “suck and spit”. Practice with different ranges and jings and with continuous fullness and power. Practice flow slowly and at speed.
- Practice “push out” against resisting opponent to tune perfect structure when advancing – sink/root then replace space with your body weight, maintain body alignment when advancing, especially lower back area. Develop bag and or wall drill to develop skill. Practice this alignment in all forms – silat and tai chi. Refine in push hands.
- Practice kicks, punches, destructions, and strikes to “fall” with full body weight into opponent.
- Body waving daily to develop looseness and control/health of all joints and ranges of motion. Continue to focus on problem areas (SR) – sternum, diaphragm, cervical spine, lumbar spine, rhomboids, and trapezius Train this “waving” in push hands and against punching from opponent. Eventually work into sparring. Review systema.
- Train 4 types of push hands – 1) Torso with hands between neck and waist, 2) Double wrist hold, 3) Alternate wrist hold, 4) Chin Na – practice against different china na to push out or “lock” different joints in opponent – wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck, waist/hip, ankles, feet.
